One of the new frogs we will be featuring at the December 9 West Michigan Reptile Expo in Grand Rapids are Big-Eyed Tree Frogs (Leptopelis vermiculatus) a species of frog found in forest areas in Tanzania, Africa.
We have the brown morph of this gentle frog available for $12 each or two for $20.
Back again will be our Green Tree Frogs (Hyla cinerea)
Available at a new low price of $6 each, or two for $10, these natives of the southern U.S. can be housed in an unheated vivarium, out of direct sunlight, maintained between 68-77 degrees F during the summer, and a bit cooler in the winter. Normal room temperatures are fine. These guys can be a bit skittish at first, as they are wild-caught adults, but they do really well in captivity and are really pretty hardy creatures. They eventually become quite bold and curious.
Our captive-bred Fire-Bellied Toadlets will be back as well.
We love these comical little guys, who are finally starting to get their adult color (this pic was shot when they were only a couple weeks out of the water) and beginning to eat small crickets, although they just love a feast of fruit flies, too. Watch for special pricing on these.
Also scheduled to come in before the show are baby Red-Eyed Tree Frogs, Golden Tree Frogs, Vietnamese Blue Tree Frogs, and both Green & Black and Blue and Black poison dart frogs (don’t worry, they are captive-bred, so not poisonous).
And, don’t forget our “turn key” naturalistic terrarium kits! Are you tired of changing substrate every week? With a combination of our special substrate mixture, frogs, and live plants, you can create a stable environment that will often last for several years with periodic maintenance!
You get the tank, the light, the substrate and drainage layer, and live moss; you pick out a free piece of driftwood or coconut hut, plants (first plant is free with kit purchase) and frog you want (our lowest price point frogs are free with kit purchase), and it’s ready to set up.
We also have extras available, such as temperature and humidity gauges, heating cables, vines, colonies of springtails (a beneficial soil microfauna) and a wide variety of colorful terrarium plants. And, you get a 10% discount on any other purchases with the purchase of a terrarium kit.
Or, if you don’t need the tank, we can sell you a terrarium kit to fit the tank you have at home!
We look forward to seeing you at the show. If you need to contact us before, drop us an email at sales@forestfrogs.com
